Ahead of the publication of our 2026/2027 Corporate Plan, we would like to share some Inspectorate highlights from 2025.

St Catherine’s Priory Approved Premises (AP) in Guildford, South East has received an overall rating of ‘Good’ following an inspection by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation.

Eden House Approved Premises (AP) in Bristol has received an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ following an inspection by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation. Eden House is a women-only and independent AP.

HM Inspectorate of Probation has published its fourth annual report of Serious Further Offence (SFO) reviews [see notes to editor]. This year’s findings show no improvement from last year and highlight an increasing backlog of overdue reviews.

Cardiff and the Vale Probation Delivery Unit (PDU) has received an overall rating of ‘Inadequate’ following an inspection by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation.  

Gwent Probation Delivery Unit (PDU) has received an overall rating of ‘Requires improvement’ following an inspection by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation.

South Gloucestershire Youth Justice Service (YJS) has received an overall rating of ‘Good’ following an inspection of work with children and victims by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation.

North Wales Probation Delivery Unit (PDU) has received an overall rating of ‘Requires improvement’ following an inspection by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation.

A thematic inspection from HM Inspectorate of Probation has called for a renewed focus on embedding safeguarding at the core of probation practice. This thematic inspection explored the effectiveness of current policies, the quality of practice, and the outcomes for adults on probation identified as at risk, particularly in relation to suicide and self-harm.

Joyce Meggie House (JMH) Approved Premises (AP) in Southwark, London has received an overall rating of ‘Requires improvement’ following an inspection by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation.
