The quality of public protection work in probation – 2022 to 2023 inspections

This bulletin provides an update on our 2018 research report on the quality of work by probation services to protect the public.

Keeping people safe, in conjunction with other partners and agencies, is a key objective for probation. This duty to protect is complemented, not contradicted, by the rehabilitative imperative to promote personal change and growth with people being supervised.
