Youth Participation

Through our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2024-2026 we are committed to increasing our engagement with children, parents, and carers within the Youth Justice Service.

We are working to develop meaningful and impactful methods for child and adult participation in inspection activity, utilising learning from best practice guides to maximise engagement and contributions.

Pilots for our new Youth Inspection Programme included child, parent and carer participation, tested out methods of engagement and explored what this could look like in the new framework.

We are now working to review outcomes from these pilots, scoping how we utilise information gathered and embed accessibility in our contact with children and inspected organisations.

Peer Power

Peer Power, a youth participation organisation, worked with us and a group of young people to co-produce an animation designed to help us increase inspection participation
