Professor Seán Redmond

Published:

University of Limerick

  1. Recognise the critical importance of practice to youth justice policy
  2. Prioritise making the professional and young person relationship as good as it can be
  3. Think about scientific partnerships between government and research
“If we accept the centrality of the relationship [between the front line professional and the young person] and reverse engineer the governance system for youth justice, this means that every layer behind the relationship, up the management, regulatory and policy chain, should demonstrate how it is adding value to the special relationship. This is a significantly different take on accountability.”
